I am so happy that Spring is just around the corner. It was over 70 degrees today.In the Spring and Summer I like to plant as many flowers around my house as I can. As you can see from this picture of my front door I planted so many flowers last year that they overflowed the sidewalk. I really loved it.
I also planted flowers around the front, sides and back of the house. So, by the end of Summer my house is basically surrounded by a sea of colorful flowers.
This will be the third summer in my house. I am planning on adding more foliage and color to my flower beds this year than last.
I'm not alone in my love for gardening. Both my parents used to plant a garden of flowers and vegetables every year. My sisters all enjoy gardening as well. So, I guess it runs in the family.
My husband also likes gardening. He helps me with the flowers. But, he really likes to plant vegetables. We can't do much of that where we live now. At our last house we had an acre of ground. My husband planted 48 tomato plants one summer. We gave away over 60 bushels of tomatoes that year. They sure were delicious.
The flowers are beautiful. We need to add more more flowers to our front bed--we did a clearing of the overgrown stuff last year. I am looking forward to planting tomatoes and herbs again this year. We enjoyed them so much last summer.

I am totally the opposite, I love flowers but my husband does not want to plant every year because of the black paper under the rocks, he doesn't want weeds to come thru that area. We are thinking about a garden this year but we with our limited spare time, I am not sure how that will work. We live out in the country but my problem is I do not like snakes and they usually hang around gardens. We will see. By the way, that is a lot of tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers look great, and I also enjoy working outside when the weather gets nice. I love planting flowers and doing other outdoor project such as landscaping.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers look gorgeous! I love working outside as well and I used to plant flowers outside of my moms house every year, but apartment living doesn't call for gardens. :(
